There is a section in The Oral Language Book about retelling known stories (page 91).

Lyndsey Orchard, who teaches Kindergarten (New Entrants) at Macgregor Primary in Canberra, shared these gorgeous retelling story trays that they created based on their big books. The students also make their own puppets using small wooden disposable spoons.
