Using a video to motivate students for writing
Focus: to write a report and to use descriptive vocabulary
One of the mini-lessons that we recommend is writing and reviewing a ‘super sentence’. This is an excellent warm-up activity and is most successful when the students use the motivation/idea for the writing lesson. The activity is very versatile and teachers can specify the criteria for the ‘super sentence’, based on the focus for writing. It is a great opportunity for students to compose, review and improve a quality sentence, which can often be used in the writing activity.
Purpose: Use the templates to publish ‘super sentences’. This will give students an opportunity to identify their best sentence and to publish a manageable piece of writing. These could be collated into a class or student book of ‘super sentences’.
Suggestion: check-out the Super-sentence stamp and a digital version in our Graphics Package.
Check out our video on YouTube about using the super sentence activity.
